This house is in a quiet residential area in the small town of Rushden in Northamptonshire. It is appropriate for adults of all ages who have Learning Disabilities and associated challenging behaviours.
Accommodation consists of 4 good-sized single occupancy bedrooms. All have private washing facilities and one additionally has an en-suite shower. Communal space comprises a lounge and a large kitchen / dining room. There is a communal bathroom on the first floor and a separate WC on the ground floor. To the rear of the house is a small enclosed garden.
The house is a 3 minute walk from the town centre. The town offers good opportunities for community integration and is a very pleasant place to live. There are good local amenities and open spaces, and there is easy access to the extensive shopping and leisure facilities in the nearby county town of Northampton.
All our bedrooms comply with the National Minimum Standards for homes registered prior to August 2002 and are as follows:
Room 1: 14m² (Ground Floor)
Room 2: 14m² (First Floor)
Room 3: 13m² (First Floor)
Room 4: 12m² (First Floor)
Each Service User is provided with a bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, two chairs, a desk, lockable space, shelving, bedding and towels. Bedrooms also have fitted carpets and curtains. Service Users may elect to reject or add to these items should they wish. There may also be a reduction/increase in this provision if a specific risk/need is identified within their care plan and/or associated risk assessments. Each room has electric sockets and a television aerial socket but do not have a telephone point. A cordless phone is available for individuals to use in private should they wish.
Each bedroom has a window that can be opened, although they have restrictors fitted for safety. All bedroom doors are fitted with a lock, for which the Service User holds a key. These can be locked from the inside and outside (although shift leaders hold a master key in case of emergency).
Service Users may personalise and decorate their own room to their own taste, including buying or bringing in furniture and electrical equipment, providing it meets with fire regulations and/or PAT testing. Any persons, including staff, wishing to enter any bedroom will obtain permission to enter the room from the Service User first (except in the case of emergency or concern for the well being of the Service User).
