Aspen Lodge is a 5-bedded purpose built residential care home situated in Rushden, Northamptonshire. Public and private transport services are available to all service users thus enabling them to access the local and wider community.

Developed in 2003 from part of Aspen House, generally those that live at Aspen Lodge need greater support in their daily living routines. Aspen Lodge has been developed to accommodate younger Adults (18-40 guide only) with Learning disabilities, and additional complex needs, which include mild to high challenging behaviours; associated mental disorders; those that have complex epilepsy; those who fall within the autistic spectrum; those who have communication difficulties and physical disabilities. They are also more likely to enjoy outdoor pursuits and activities.

The Bedrooms comply with the National Minimum Standards for homes registered prior to August 2002 and are as follows:

Room 1: 11.5m² (Ground Floor)
Room 2: 11.5m² (Ground Floor)
Room 3: 11.5m² (Ground Floor)
Room 4: 12.4m² (Ground Floor)
Room 5: 18.1m² (Ground Floor)

All bedrooms have a sink with vanity cupboard, mirror, and shaving socket. Each bedroom has windows that can be opened by the service user if they wish, though all windows have restrictors fitted for the protection of the service user. All bedroom doors are fitted with a lock, for which the service user holds the key. These can be locked from the inside and outside. The bedroom doors do not have a letterbox, all mail is delivered through the main front door, and any private mail for residents is given to them, unopened, by staff. Each room also has two double sockets and a television aerial socket. The bed rooms do not have a telephone socket fitted, instead a cordless phone is available for all clients to use in private should they wish.

Each service user is provided with a wardrobe, chest of draws, two chairs, desk, lockable space, shelving, bed, bedding, towelling, carpet and curtains. However the service users may elect to reject or increase on these items should they wish. There may also be a reduction/increase in this provision if a specific risk/need is identified within their service user care plan and/or associated risk assessments. All bedrooms are for single use only.

Service users may personalise and decorate their own room to their own taste, including buying or bringing in furniture and electrical equipment, providing it meets with Fire regulations and/or PAT testing. Any persons, including staff, wishing to enter these rooms will obtain permission to enter the room from the service user first.

Communal Space comprises of 1 Lounge, 1 Dinning room and a Sun Room with a combined measurement of 55 square metres (approximately). In addition there is a domestic kitchen which all service users use to prepare meals, snack and drinks or to work with staff to assist at meal times etc. There are 2 bathrooms, one consisting of a large walk in shower with WC and sink and another bathroom comprising of a bath, WC and sink.

Aspen Lodge has off road parking space for ten vehicles. The house vehicle is parked outside the house and is an eight-seater family people carrier. It is available to service users 7 days a week (subject to staff drivers) and is regularly maintained and serviced.

Aspen Lodge has two large secured rear garden areas, that the service users are encouraged to take full advantage of.
